I Want To See You Next Preseason Stronger, with More Muscle and More Powerful Than Before
One thing I’ve never understood is why players train their asses off in the gym in the preseason and then completely stop when the footy season begins. That just seems insane to me. Why would you want to lose everything you have achieved in the last four months? The old saying of ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it’ is so very true.
Think of blowing up a balloon; if you stop breathing air into that balloon, it deflates. Do you think players in the NRL stop gym work just because games start? Not a chance! Failure to plan is planning to fail. It’s tough trying to fit everything in, I get it, but you can accomplish it. It is a fine art, but with a little planning and a system in place, you can still train effectively enough to progress while recovering appropriately between games.
So please do not stop everything now. Don’t think that club training and playing games each week is sufficient to maintain your new-found size, strength and power!
